Stop Attacking Monday: Why Thinking in Weeks Changed My Productivity

As July comes to an end, I can’t help but look back and smile. We started the month with so much ambition. Looking back, I realised something surprising. The biggest lesson July taught me wasn’t about working harder. It was about changing how I think about Mondays. There were so many things I wanted to achieve, and while I didn’t tick every single box, I’m genuinely happy with how July turned out. If you’re reading this feeling like you didn’t achieve enough this month, especially if you’re a parent, I want you to give yourself a little grace. The children are home for the summer. If you’re like me and your children have been home for four weeks already, I completely understand how overwhelming that can be. And if they’ve only just started their holidays, I understand that too. Summer changes everything. A little while ago, I shared that this summer, our focus is preparing for the new school term. I’m still planning to share the learning schedule I’ve created for the boys, but this has...

A Book, A Beach and A Little Imagination

It was the first day of autumn. At least, technically it was. The calendar had turned to September, the kids were supposed to be going back to school, and summer was officially packing its bags. Except mine weren't back yet. I could still hear their echoes around the house as they played, ran from room to room and somehow managed to make every corner of the house sound occupied. And I thought, *What better way to spend one of the last days of the summer holiday, even if it isn't really summer anymore, than at the beach?* So, the beach it was. I gathered everything I thought I might need. The boys' toys. My bag. My new book. Lip balm. My scarf. Sunglasses. Wipes. A blanket. Basically, everything required for a mother to casually sit on a beach for a couple of hours. We could have walked. The beach was ridiculously close. But naturally, we drove the less-than-two-minute journey instead. When we got out of the car, the boys were already excited. They walked ahead of me down th...

Family Road Trip Checklist: How I Travel With My Kids and Spend Less

Our last little road trip was Telford to Gloucester, Gloucester to Bournemouth, Bournemouth to Southampton and then Southampton back to Telford. And somewhere during all that driving, the boys and I started talking about the things you should do before going on a road trip. It turned into quite a good list. Actually, I liked the list so much that I thought, I need to start doing this properly. Because we travel quite a lot. We like going out, visiting different cities and having little adventures, but one thing I have noticed is that I sometimes spend far more money than necessary simply because I wasn’t prepared. A drink here. Snacks there. Fuel at the wrong place. Something I forgot to pack. McDonald’s because somebody suddenly remembered they were hungry. Before you know it, a trip that shouldn’t have cost that much has somehow become EXPENSIVE. So, if you’re one of those mums who travels a lot, loves a spontaneous trip but isn’t always the best at planning ahead, this is for you. H...
