I’ve actually spent the whole week cleaning, decluttering, resetting and I’ll be wrapping it all up tomorrow (Sunday). And honestly? It has been so good.
Not just physically, but mentally and spiritually too.
Let me share five things I’ve done this spring that have completely refreshed my home and my mind.
1. I Started With My Bedroom (And Let Things Go Properly)
First things first, I tackled my bedroom.
I’ve moved back into the master’s bedroom, and I didn’t just “tidy up”… I did a proper reset.
• Brought my spring/summer clothes forward
• Moved winter clothes to the back
• Bagged clothes I no longer wear
• Bagged shoes that don’t serve me anymore
And I made a decision:
If it doesn’t fit me, suit me, or reflect who I am in this season, it has to go.
I just needed my space to feel light again.
2. I Decluttered The Boys’ Space (But The Books… Hmm)
Next stop, the boys.
I went through:
• Their wardrobes
• Their rooms
• Toys and clothes they’ve outgrown
Everything not in use? Bagged for donation.
But let’s talk about the books…
I have so many children’s books. And I’m honestly attached to them.
So now I’m torn:
• Do I donate them?
• Do I create a mini library at church?
• Do I give them to families who will actually use them?
Because I don’t want those books wasted. They need to go to someone who will love and use them.
(And honestly, if you’re in the UK and you genuinely love books, I don’t mind sending some your way 👀)
3. I Prayed Through Every Room
This one meant the most to me.
I walked through every single room in my house and prayed.
Not quietly. Not casually. Intentionally.
• I prayed for peace
• I prayed for God’s presence
• I prayed for this new season
Just going from room to room, declaring God’s presence in every corner.
Because spring cleaning isn’t just about your space, it’s about your spirit too.
4. I Decluttered The Kitchen (And Survived Nigerian Snacks 😂)
Let me give you small tea…
My mum just came from Nigeria and brought a lot of things.
And for the past three days?
I’ve basically been living in the bathroom because my stomach said:
“We are not built for this level of enjoyment.”
But did I stop immediately? No.
Did I learn my lesson quickly? Also no ðŸ˜
Eventually, I paused the madness.
Then I tackled the kitchen:
• Cleared out unused items
• Checked expiry dates
• Got rid of things I don’t touch
• Removed a mat that had been annoying me for months
You know those small things that just irritate you every day?
Yeah… it’s gone now. Peace has returned 😂
5. The Garage… Pray For Me
Now let’s talk about the real battle: the garage.
Every spring, without fail, I have to face it.
And every year, I ask myself:
How did it get this bad again?
It’s overwhelming. It’s chaotic. It needs serious attention.
Someone even suggested getting a skip and honestly… they might be right.
So next week, I’m dedicating time to it. Bit by bit, day by day.
Because one way or another, it must be sorted.
Bonus: I’m About To Mow The Lawn For The First Time 🌱
Guys… I’ve never used a lawnmower in my life.
Ever.
But the garden is cleaned up now and ready… so I’m thinking:
“Why not try it?”
If I like it, great.
If I don’t, I’m outsourcing immediately 😂
We’re trying new things this spring.
So Tell Me… What Are You Doing This Spring?
Are you:
• Just cleaning?
• Decluttering?
• Resetting your whole life?
• Or calling down the Holy Spirit into your home like I did?
I’d love to know.
Finally,
This weekend, I’m doing something even more important…
Nothing
No events. No outings. No stress.
Just me, my boys, and being fully present ❤️
And honestly? I’m so grateful to God for that.
Also… my TV is on (Finally!!!!!!) and I’m watching Virgin River, legs in foot socks because balance 😌
Have a beautiful weekend.
With love,
Ayo 😜
