From Research to Business: My Vision for the Second Half of the Year

Can you believe we’re officially in the second half of the year?

A whole six months have gone by just like that.
Before I talk about my goals for the months ahead, I want to pause and say one thing.

Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read something I’ve written.

Thank you if you’ve ever left a comment, sent me an email, replied to a post, or dropped into my DMs just to tell me how something I wrote resonated with you.

And an even bigger thank you to everyone who shared a blog post with someone else because you felt they needed to read it.

You have no idea how much that means to me.

Looking Back at How This Blog Started
When I started this blog back in August last year, it honestly wasn’t part of some grand master plan.
It started with a message.
Just one message.
Then one blog post became another, then another, and before I knew it… I simply couldn’t stop writing.

I’ve never been someone who likes to gatekeep knowledge.
If I learn something that could help someone else, I want to share it.

That’s just who I am.

I’ve loved every moment of writing, and I know I wouldn’t have enjoyed it nearly as much if nobody was reading it.

Your encouragement has kept me going.
So if there’s ever a topic you’d like me to write about, please let me know.
I’d genuinely love to hear your ideas.

My Goal for the Second Half of the Year
If I had to summarise my focus for the next six months in one sentence, it would be this:
I’m approaching the second half of the year as a game changer.

I’ve always enjoyed challenging the status quo.
But this time…
I’m not challenging everyone else’s.
I’m challenging my own.
I’m challenging the way I approach my career.
I’m challenging the way I run my business.
I’m raising my own standards.

Every decision I make now has to move me closer to the future I’m trying to build.

Career Goal: Returning to Research
One thing I’ve realised is how much I genuinely miss research.
I’ve always been fascinated by how biology interacts with electricity.

It’s one of those subjects that has never stopped exciting me.
When I looked back recently, I realised something that shocked me.

For the past five years, I haven’t worked on a single research project of my own.
That needs to change.

Thankfully, that journey has already started.

I’ve partnered with Ellie whose work ethic I deeply admire. I was incredibly intentional about choosing someone who is passionate, disciplined and committed to doing excellent work.

We’re already discussing research ideas that genuinely excite both of us.

Now we’re beginning to explore funding opportunities, grants and organisations that could support those projects.

This feels like the beginning of something really exciting.

Business Goal: Taking Every Opportunity God Places Before Me
A couple of weeks ago, I received an email.
At first, I almost overlooked it.

But I heard God saying,
“This is an opportunity.”

I’m not ready to share all the details yet because it’s still unfolding.
But if you’ve followed this blog for a while, you already know…

I’m not a gatekeeper.

Once everything comes together, I’ll share exactly what happened and everything I learned along the way.

One thing I’m changing this season is this:
I’m no longer letting opportunities pass simply because they seem difficult.
If they align with where God is leading me, I’m going after them.

I’m No Longer Accepting “No”
This season feels different.

I know how competitive life is.
I know how difficult it can be to convince people to believe in your vision.
I know rejection is part of the journey.

But this second half of the year…
I’m refusing to let one “no” become the final answer.

I’m taking what I like to call the Ruth approach.
Ruth didn’t stop at the first obstacle.

She remained faithful, kept showing up, kept working and trusted that God would open the right doors.

That’s the mindset I’m carrying into these next six months.

A New series I’m Excited to Launch on the blog, Thriving Abroad
There’s one more project I’m incredibly excited about.
Over the coming months, I want to start interviewing professionals from different careers.

Not video interviews.
Written conversations.
Question-and-answer style.

The reason is simple.

I’ve met so many international professionals who arrive in the UK with degrees in engineering, finance, science and many other fields.

Yet they’re often told that healthcare is their only option.

Many eventually get stuck there not because they want to, but because they don’t know another path exists.

I’ve been there.
I understand how confusing it can feel.

So I want this series to become a practical resource.

I’ll interview people already working in different professions and ask them how they got there, what challenges they faced, and what advice they would give someone trying to follow the same path.

If you’re interested in a particular career, you’ll be able to read their journey, learn from it, and if you have further questions, you can always reach out to me by email, WhatsApp or social media, and I’ll do my best to connect you.

If sharing knowledge can help someone else move forward, then that’s exactly what I want this blog to do.

Here’s to the Second Half of the Year
I’m excited.
For the blog.
For my career.
For my business.
For the opportunities God is opening.

When I look back at where this year started and where I am now, I can only thank God.
I truly believe He has been directing my steps in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

As we begin this new month and this new chapter, my prayer for you is simple.

May God bless the work of your hands.
May every opportunity He has prepared for you find you.
May you have the courage to pursue it.

And may this second half of the year become the season where everything begins to change for the better.
Happy New Month.

With Love,
Ayo

If this post resonated with you, share it with one person stepping into something new this month. We have a 10k goal. Let’s make it happen.
