OOTD: Ripped Jeans, Red Lipstick and a Nigerian Lunch at Work

I don’t usually go into work on Mondays.

Most Mondays, I work from home, but every now and then I make the trip in. And honestly? This Monday turned out to be quite lovely.
Let’s start with the outfit.

The moment I put this look together, I knew I loved it. There is something about light-wash ripped jeans and a crisp white shirt that never gets old for me. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know I talk about white shirts all the time. They are one of those wardrobe staples that always make me feel put together.

My black jacket is from Noisy May, and I’ve had it for years. It only comes out around this time of year when the weather sits somewhere between 16 and 17 degrees. It isn’t a warm jacket by any means.
You may also notice that my hair has changed.

I genuinely mourned taking down my previous hairstyle because I absolutely loved how it looked. Unfortunately, it was painful. I wasn’t sleeping properly, I was relying on pain medication, and eventually I decided it simply wasn’t worth it. So I took it down and returned to this style instead.

I’m also still wearing my lashes.
My Lashes

I know I told you how terrible lash glue is and how my real lashes are protesting, but for now, here we are. I still love the look.

And then there is the red lipstick.

The same red lipstick I’ve already declared will be my summer lipstick.

Will I wear it all summer long? Probably.

Will I get tired of it after ten photos? Possibly.

But right now, I love how it instantly pulls a look together. On days when I want something softer, I’ll switch to a more subtle shade, but this red has become a favourite.

Outfit Details
* Belt:
* Jeans:
* Watch:
* Ring: AliExpress
* Shoes: ASOS (couldn’t find it)

Speaking of the ring, quite a few people have asked where it came from.

It’s actually from AliExpress.

I’ve mentioned this on the blog before, I’m not someone who spends a lot of money on jewellery because I know myself. I am incredibly careless with small items like rings and earrings.

The only piece of jewellery I’ve successfully managed not to lose is a gold necklace my mum bought for me years ago.

And do you know why I’ve managed to keep it?

Because I don’t wear it.

Every now and then, I look at it, admire it, appreciate the thought behind it, and then carefully put it away again.

As for this AliExpress ring, it’s surprisingly beautiful. It feels solid, looks much more expensive than it is, and has held up really well.

Now for the Monday story.

One of the reasons I like going into work on Mondays is because the office is much quieter. There are fewer people around, which means I get to spend time catching up with my wonderful friend and others.

This Monday, I decided to surprise her.

I brought in pounded yam, efo riro, assorted meat and a bottle of malt so she could enjoy a proper Nigerian lunch experience.

Thankfully, she loved it.
Unfortunately, so did I.

The problem was that after eating it, I became unbelievably sleepy.

I should probably have stuck to the vegetables, but no. I enjoyed the full experience and paid the price afterwards.

By the time I was getting ready to leave work, I was fighting for my life.

I ended up grabbing a coffee before driving home because there was absolutely no way I was making that journey without caffeine.

Thankfully, the coffee worked.

I stayed awake, got home safely, and survived my Nigerian-food-induced food coma.

The funny thing is I’ll be back in the office again on Wednesday, which means another OOTD is already brewing.

I’ve already picked the outfit.

I love it.

Now I’m just hoping the weather cooperates because if it’s warm enough, you’ll definitely be seeing it on the blog very soon.

With Love,
Ayo
