To My Son on His 8th Birthday: A Letter of Love, Growth and Grace

My first little love,

my pum pum,

eight years wrapped in grace

how did time learn to run this fast?

This year, I watched you become…

not just older,

but deeper.

I saw it

on your brother’s birthday

when you chose joy over jealousy,

love over attention,

and made his moment shine.

Oh, Ollie,

that was when I knew

your heart is becoming something beautiful.

I have watched you find God

in scribbles…

in quiet notes…

in small, honest prayers

written with hands still learning,

but a spirit already listening.

I have watched you grow through failure

from tears

to understanding,

from “I didn’t win”

to “I’ll try again.”

That strength

that quiet resilience

it humbles me.

And your love…

you don’t hide it.

You run to me.

without fear,

without pride

just truth.

Never lose that.

Never learn to love halfway.

I see your confidence now

the way you speak,

the way you pause

so others can understand you.

Not just heard…

but understood.

Your class assembly

The performance

Spectacular

So this year, I pray:

That God lifts you.

That you shine effortlessly, boldly.

That wisdom walks with you,

and understanding rests in your heart.

But most of all

that you learn to discern,

to hear God clearly

in a world that can be so loud.

And as you grow

don’t rush it.

Be little.

Be soft.

Be loud with your joy.

Be honest with your feelings.

And always

always stand beside your brother,

the way you did that day and everyday after.

My pum pum,

my answered love,

my growing baby

Happy 8th birthday.

I love you.

Always

In Every Version

With Love,

Mum
