What are you watching?
Just a quick note, guys, I was trying to decide what to watch this weekend, and somehow I found myself deep in decision mode. You know how it goes: you’re not even sure you’ll sit down properly, but you still want to choose well.
I clicked on His & Hers, thinking it might be a film. Turns out, it’s a series. Then there’s Runaway, also a series. At that point, I already knew the truth:
I’m never going to sit down and watch an entire season in one stretch. So whatever I choose needs to work even if I only catch an episode here and there.
Let me walk you through my thinking.
Why His & Hers made me pause
His & Hers immediately caught my attention, sleek, moody, serious. And then there’s Jon
Now, this is where my memory kicked in.
The film I always remember him from is The Accountant, he played the brother. And honestly? That role was beautiful. Controlled, emotional, intense without being loud. Ever since then, I’ve trusted his performances.
That’s also why His & Hers feels like the kind of series you need to pay attention to. Jon Bernthal doesn’t really do background TV. Miss one look, one pause, one line, and you’ve probably missed the point.
But then I noticed something else:
There are only a couple of episodes.
And that made me hesitate.
Is it unfinished?
Was it renewed?
Is it going to leave me hanging?
That uncertainty alone made me think, maybe not right now.
Why Runaway is calling me instead?
Then there’s Runaway.
I saw the cover and immediately recognised Alfred Enoch and that was enough to spark interest.
If you’ve watched How to Get Away with Murder, you already know why. His character development over time was so well done, subtle, layered, believable. He’s the kind of actor who can carry tension quietly, which makes a show easier to dip in and out of without losing emotional impact.
Runaway feels like one of those series where even if you only manage one episode, you still feel like you’ve watched something worthwhile.
Less pressure.
Still satisfying.
Now I’m curious, what are you watching this weekend?
And has anyone finished His & Hers or Runaway yet?
Because if it ends on a cliffhanger… I need warning 😅
