When I first began writing about how to stay in love even when apart, I didn’t expect him to say a word to me during his trip. I imagined silence, distance, and me quietly doing little things with him from afar.
But that wasn’t how it unfolded.
On the very first morning, as he sipped his coffee, he sent a tiny coffee emoji. Simple, but it made me smile. The next day came a quote I left for him, and we found ourselves in a thoughtful exchange. On Wednesday, we spoke again, gently, easily. By Thursday, a poem arrived.
It was beautiful, yes, but unsettling and I told him so. Still, we met each other halfway.
The whole experience, the waiting, the small surprises, the rhythm between distance and connection turned out to be more beautiful than I could have imagined. I welcomed every moment of it, and I truly enjoyed the process.
Yet beauty often brings questions, and maybe even concern. So for now, I’m letting this breathe. Let's step back, not in withdrawal, but in respect for space.
Take a few days to simply be you. Don’t feel the need to say hello or reach out until you’re ready. Take all the time you need.
This was never about rushing; it was about learning how to stay connected, even while apart, with intention, respect, and care.
I’ll be here, until I’m not.
If you ever want to try this with someone you love, do it. Tiny gestures matter. They often carry more weight than grand declarations. And yes, this brought us closer, closer than we’ve ever been.
This is how we end Even When Apart:
a quiet close, a warm breath, a promise that love can grow, even in silence.
