Life moves fast, and between responsibilities, family, and work, it’s easy to forget about me.
That’s why I’ve built little things I do every month that make me feel pampered, cared for, and happy. Here’s what my monthly self-care looks like (so far!):- Nails (currently on pause): Fixing my nails used to be one of my favourite monthly treats. Unfortunately, a painful accident (long nails + toddlers = disaster đŸ˜…) means I’ve had to give my fingers time to heal. For now, I’m skipping this ritual, but it’s definitely on my “come back to” list when the time is right.
- Brows: While many of my friends have switched to ombrĂ© brows, I’m still sticking with monthly threading. It’s quick, effective, and keeps my brows neat. Do I complain about the pain each time? Absolutely. But it’s short-lived, and I walk out feeling put-together.
- A Small Gift to Myself: Every month, I buy myself something nice. It could be sandals, a blazer, a jacket, or even just a little accessory that makes me smile. It’s not about the price; it’s about the feeling of treating myself with love. This month is was Blanc Collection from The White Company.
- A Kindness to Someone Else: This is one of my favourite rituals. I try to do something kind for someone not directly connected to me, whether it’s a thoughtful gesture, a small gift, or simply lending a hand. It’s my quiet way of giving back and staying grounded.
- Facials: Facials are non-negotiable. My skin deserves the extra care, and I love how refreshed and relaxed I feel after each session. It’s a monthly reset for both my face and my mind. I get all my facials from Cult Beauty.
- Fresh Flowers: This one makes my heart so full. Every month, I buy fresh flowers for my kitchen. Walking in and seeing those blooms instantly brightens my day. It’s such a simple gesture, but it brings me so much joy, the colours, the fragrance, the life they add to the room. Honestly, flowers are one of my favourite forms of self-care. I have a monthly subscription with Freddie's Flowers.
To keep my rituals evolving, here are a few extras I want to try:
- A Solo Date - whether it’s coffee, a new restaurant, or a gallery, just me enjoying my own company.
- Digital Detox Day - a mini break from screens and social media.
- Journaling Check-In - reflecting on the month and setting intentions for the next.
- A Wellness Treat - maybe a massage, yoga class, or even just a luxurious bath at home.
- A beauty subscription box - I previously subscribed to Look Fantastic, and that was how I got to know lots of good products. You can also try Skin Cupid, Glamour, and Not on the High Street.
