This Saturday unfolded slowly, the way weekends sometimes do. I didn’t wake up early; the duvet had already slipped off me before I stirred, but I leaned into the slower pace.
After quickly loading the laundry, I went back upstairs to get ready. Skincare came first. I’m currently on day two of a new routine (fingers crossed), and I’m committed to staying consistent this time. My friend Yetty has a routine she swears by, and one of these days I’ll convince her to share her product list.
Before showering, I also decided to take care of hair removal. While many people have moved on to waxing or laser, I still prefer wet shaving. The secret to avoiding ingrown hairs is a product I’ve trusted for years, Skin Doctor Cosmetics. It’s been a game-changer for me, and I recommend it to anyone who struggles with irritation.
I’ve also introduced a facial brightening cream and glow-boosting Serum Mask to help even out my complexion, as my face tends to be slightly darker than the rest of my skin. It’s too early to say if it will become a staple, but I will share my thoughts as I go.
Later in the day, I met up with my best bud, Yetty, in town. While she was having her nails done, I was painfully removing mine. It wasn’t the most comfortable process, but I reminded myself that the money saved can be redirected into another form of self-care. I haven’t decided what that will be yet, but suggestions are always welcome.

The highlight of the afternoon was catching up in person with Yetty (we forgot to take a selfie) and doing one of our favourite things. Conversation flowed easily, and in a rare moment, I even hugged her, a gesture that meant more than words. I'm sure she's still shocked.
Back home, I slipped into mum-mode, preparing spaghetti for the kids (a favourite in our house) and helping them get ready for the week ahead. With school starting Monday for one child and Thursday for the other, the weekend carries its own kind of structure.
Meanwhile, Yetty, who spends her Saturday mornings running children between lessons, was finally able to rest. I don’t envy her packed schedule, but I admire how she manages it all. Super Mom
And that was my Saturday: a mix of self-care, friendship, and family. Quiet, ordinary, but deeply grounding in its own way.
