I have loved it from the moment I bought it. It’s just a different shade of red, one of those reds that instantly does something to your face.
Yesterday morning, while I was doing my makeup, my four-year-old was awake with me.
So naturally, I recruited him as my beauty consultant.
I asked him:
“Should Mummy wear the brown lipstick or the red lipstick?”
Now, I already knew the brown was the safe option. It would blend beautifully with the outfit and keep everything soft, neutral and very autumnal.
The red?
The red was going to announce itself.
He initially said absolutely nothing, so I told him, “If you’re going to stay awake and be up with Mummy, you might as well participate.”
😂
Eventually, he chose the red.
So red it was.
The look Somewhere Between Casual and Dressy
I think the theme of this outfit is simply:
Not too dressy. Not underdressed. Somewhere comfortably in between.
Casual, but nice.
Now that we’re moving into autumn, I’m ready to bring the browns, beige, creams and whites back into rotation. I have a few other colours I want to play around with this season, but I think those warm neutrals are going to form the backbone of my autumn wardrobe.
For this look, I started with a white shirt. Mine is an older one, so I’ve linked a similar option from H&M.
My A-line skirt is from Next. Again, I’ve had mine for a while, but I’ve linked a similar style with the same sort of structure.
The jumper is from River Island, and I’ve linked that too.
And then we get to the jacket.
Apparently, I Shop at M&S Now
My beige coat is from M&S, and for whatever reason, I have been shopping there a lot recently.
I used to think M&S was for the oldies.
There. I said it. 😂
But look at me now.
I think part of the problem is that I already spend quite a bit of time in M&S because I buy some of my small chops ingredients there. I’ll go into the Foodhall for bread and a few other things, finish my food shopping and somehow find myself wandering into the clothing section.
And then the madness begins.
That is exactly how this lovely beige parka came home with me.
Yesterday’s OOTD
So that was yesterday’s work look.
A little autumnal.
A little oversized.
A little casual.
A little polished.
A quieter perfume than I’d normally choose…
I think the red lip might be staying in rotation for a while.
What are you buying for your autumn/winter wardrobe this year? Are we doing oversized jackets, boots, knitwear, new perfumes or are you actually being financially responsible?
Because apparently, I am not. 😂
With Love,
