And honestly?
The funniest part of this entire story is that I didn’t even like the outfit when I left the house.
Not even a little bit.
I stood in front of the mirror that morning wondering if any of it worked together.
The hairstyle felt different.
The shirt felt loud.
The whole thing felt like one of those outfits that only makes sense in your head.
Then I went to work.
And apparently my favourite girl loved it.
Let’s start with the hair.
This is a traditional Yoruba hairstyle, and I genuinely haven’t worn one since secondary school.
What surprised me most was how many compliments I received throughout the day.
The funny thing is that I’m terrible at accepting compliments.
Every time someone said, “Your hair looks beautiful,” my immediate reaction was:
“Are they just being nice?”
I know.
I need to work on that.
But after hearing it enough times, I finally accepted that people might actually mean what they were saying.
Now onto the outfit.
The white tank top is from Zara.
The jeans are from Zara.
The earrings are from Mango.
The shoes are from Dune.
And the shirt?
The shirt has been with me for years.
I bought it from a vintage seller Pynat back in Nigeria and somehow it’s survived nearly a decade in my wardrobe.
The strange thing is that I spent the entire day thinking the outfit was just okay.
Nothing special.
Then I got home.
I stood in front of the mirror.
I took these photos.
And suddenly everything clicked.
The shirt worked.
The hairstyle worked.
The colours worked.
The red lip, to die for 😂
The whole outfit finally made sense.
It’s funny how that happens sometimes.
You spend an entire day second-guessing yourself only to realise later that everything came together exactly the way it was supposed to.
Maybe outfits are a little bit like life.
Sometimes the full picture only makes sense when you finally stop and look at it.
