Guys, I can’t believe it’s Friday already.
The whole week seems to have flown by so quickly that I almost feel like I’ve not achieved as much as I wanted to. It’s amazing how time can move so fast.
One thing I’ve decided this week is that I need to tackle my relationship with Coke.
If you know me well, you’ll know that Coke is basically my water.
I don’t know how I got here. There was a time when I barely drank it, and now it feels like I’m constantly reaching for one.
So I’m setting myself a challenge: 2 litres of water every day.
And I was wondering if anyone would like to join me.
I’ve been advised not to quit Coke completely overnight, but instead to gradually reduce it. The suggestion was to switch to cans and limit myself to one can a day.
Now, if I’m being honest, one can can quickly become twenty-four cans in two days if I’m not careful.
I’m not even exaggerating.
I’ve done it before.
So fingers crossed that discipline wins this round.
Speaking of challenges, a lot of people have been messaging me lately about relationships, connection, and how difficult it can sometimes be to spend intentional time together.
So I thought I’d give you a little weekend homework.
For us, it’s happening on Friday night because Saturday and Sunday are packed with work. Good work, thankfully, but still work.
There’s a limited series on Netflix that I’ve been wanting to watch. I saw the trailer, recognised the lead actor from another film I loved, and immediately decided it was going on the weekend list. Title:I will find you.
The plan?
Get the boys to bed early.
Dress for the occasion (check Boux Avenue😜)
Make some sweet popcorn.
Grab some drinks.
Put the phones on airplane mode.
And spend the evening together.
Not half watching while scrolling.
Actually watching.
Actually talking.
Actually connecting.
If you’re doing this with your partner this weekend, here are my suggestions:
* Put your phones away.
* Sit together instead of at opposite ends of the sofa.
* Make the evening feel intentional.
* Have a shower.
* Smell nice.
* Wear something comfortable but very cute.
Not boring outdoor clothes.
We’re not going to the cinema.
We’re bringing the cinema home.
And ladies, I think it’s even more fun if you don’t announce it beforehand(I mean the outfit).
Be sneaky 😉
Just show up looking lovely.
Let him be pleasantly surprised.
Call it Netflix and Chill.
Or better yet:
Netflix and Connect.
And if you miss part of the programme because you’re busy talking, laughing, cuddling or getting distracted?
You can always rewind.
I’d recommend Friday or Saturday night rather than Sunday because Monday has a habit of arriving far too quickly.
Stay up a little later.
Sleep in a little longer.
Enjoy each other’s company.
Life moves fast.
If the laundry is packed, it can wait
Whatever it is, it can wait!
Make time for the people you love.
And finally, to all my parents reading this, I know I’ve been neglecting the parenting content recently.
I promise I haven’t forgotten you.
I’ve got so many things I want to share and so many conversations I’ve been having that I think will help other parents.
In fact, next week might just turn into Parenting Week on the blog because I have a lot to say.
I can’t wait to share it all with you.
Speak soon.
With Love,
Ayo
