Thursday Life Update: Birthday Joy, Soft Life Reset & Entering My Lash Era

There’s something about Thursdays that feels like a pause.

Not quite the beginning, not quite the end… just a gentle exhale.

And today, I’m taking it.

I’m currently easing into the Easter break, resting, resetting, and quietly preparing to return to work on Tuesday. But before life picks up speed again, I wanted to sit here for a moment and share a little life update… because life lately has been full.

A Birthday, But Make It Magic 🎈

Yesterday was my son’s birthday, and he wanted something different.

Not the usual.

Not what his brother would choose.

He wanted his people. His space. His kind of joy.

So I created it.

The house turned into a mini celebration hub

Jollof rice bubbling in the kitchen,

turkey sizzling,

plantain frying to golden perfection,

and yes… homemade cake (because what’s a party without it?).

We set up little activities for the kids, and because I’m me…

the bubble machine made an appearance

Music filled the garden, laughter followed, and for a moment, everything just felt… right.

Later, we slowed things down, colouring, then a cosy movie session with popcorn.

The kind of simple joy that doesn’t need to be loud to be memorable.

And when his dad came to pick him up later, he left with the biggest smile.

That’s how I know we got it right.

Little Joys & New Experiences

So here’s something random…

I’ve never had fish and chips.

Yes, I know. Living in the UK and never trying it? Wild 😭

But if you know me, you know my stomach does not play games.

I don’t just try anything.

If I eat your food, just know I love you deeply 😂

But… I have a little date planned with a friend from work.

We’re doing a beachfront dinner, followed by a walk along the shore, just talking about life.

And I thought, why not?

Maybe this is the moment.

Maybe this is when fish and chips finally enters my life.

Life Admin (aka Send Help) 🧺

Now let’s talk reality.

I have an event this weekend, so preparation officially starts today.

And somehow… my garage has turned into something I don’t recognise.

How did it get this bad?

I genuinely don’t know, maybe I do 😂

All I know is, spring cleaning has begun, and I will be facing it with courage… and maybe a little prayer 😭

A Small Goodbye… and a New Era

Now, a real update.

I had to let my nails go.

And this time, it’s permanent.😭😭😭

As much as I loved them, they no longer align with my food production work, and I had to choose what matters more right now.

Growth sometimes looks like letting go of what you love.

But don’t worry,I didn’t leave myself hanging.

I’ve entered my lash era 😌

Do you see it?

And listen… my eyes are doing all the talking now.

Every time you see me, just know, my eyes will speak before I do.

Closing Thoughts

Life lately has been a mix of everything

love, growth, chaos, laughter, reflection, change.

And I’m learning to hold all of it gently.

If you’re reading this, I hope April meets you with softness.

I hope you choose yourself a little more.

I hope you find joy in the small, ordinary moments.

Because sometimes… those are the ones that stay.

With Love,

Ayo
