When you are Away - Day 12

 I broke my rules,

because I needed to hold on to something

anything

that’s ours.

I craved your words,

desperately.

Yes, I still have one saved on my screensaver,

But I wanted something new,

something to remind me again

of how it all began.

So I went back to our old chat,

to that very first “hey.”

I still remember how excited I was

I couldn’t stop smiling

as I read the thread unfold,

seeing how much has shifted

since that single word.

I don’t think I have ever admitted it,

but I knew you were trouble from day one.

I knew if I followed through,

I’d end up right here

and still,

I risked it anyway.

So today,

I’ll let my anchor be the times

you made me smile,

And made my heart skip,

and I’ll carry that with me

as I wander through my town,

seeing it through the lens of you.

Not sure how it all started, here is the story of how it all began.
