Owen Cooper Makes Emmy History at 15

Last night’s Emmy Awards were packed with unforgettable moments,

but one story truly stood out. Fifteen-year-old Owen Cooper, the breakout star of the critically acclaimed Netflix series Adolescence, has officially made history as the youngest male actor ever to win an Emmy.

I remember crying through the entire series, it felt so real, especially the scene where he yelled at the therapist. It was beautifully nuanced British acting, and I loved every moment.

Taking home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, Cooper’s win is a testament to his raw talent and the powerful impact of his debut performance. The series, which has sparked global conversation, tells the harrowing story of a young boy in police custody after a tragic event. Cooper’s portrayal of the central character, Jamie Miller, captivated audiences and critics alike, earning him the prestigious honor over a field of seasoned veterans, including co-star Ashley Walters and Academy Award-winner Javier Bardem.

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Cooper had no prior professional acting experience before being cast in the role. His journey from unknown newcomer to Emmy winner in his very first role is proof that with passion, determination, and focus, anything is possible.

On stage, Cooper’s acceptance speech was a moment of pure, heartfelt inspiration:

“Honestly, when I started these drama classes a couple of years back, I didn’t expect to be even in the United States, never mind here. But I think tonight proves that if you listen, focus, and step out of your comfort zone, you can achieve anything in life.”

He continued with a candid reflection on his personal journey:

“I was nothing about three years ago, and I’m here now. So I think if you’re listening, focusing, and just stepping out of your comfort zone a little bit—who cares if you get embarrassed? Anything is possible.”

Cooper’s humility shone through as he thanked the team behind the scenes, emphasising that success is a collaborative effort:

“It may have my name on this award, but it really belongs to the people behind the camera and Stephen [Graham] and… all the cast.”

This historic win for Owen Cooper and the Adolescence team marks a new chapter in television history

It’s the story of a young talent who dared to dream and, in doing so, inspired all of us to step out of our comfort zones and pursue the impossible.

Just to see You

This morning was chaos in the most ridiculous, beautiful way.

This is for you - Part 2

She’s weak in the knees She pauses

Tired, stretched, challenged… but still here

The quote is in Yoruba-English.   Ayo: When people talk about resilience, they imagine it as this superhuman ability to never get tired, to keep going without breaking a sweat.
