Welcome to When You Are Away - Day 1

Every story has a beginning, and this one began with two people who never quite said what they felt.
They had laughter, had chemistry, but not yet the words. Then came the holidays, ten days for her and seventeen days for him. And with distance came silence: no calls, no messages, no contact.

But silence doesn’t erase longing. It only sharpens it.

And so, When You Are Away was born, a series of daily notes written in the quiet of absence. Some shared, some kept back, each one carrying the ache and tenderness of missing someone you cannot reach.

Here, you’ll find those entries, day by day.
This is not just a story to be read. It’s a story to be felt, one note at a time. Walk with us through the waiting, the wondering, and the sweetness of connection that lingers even in silence.

Begin here, with Day One.

I could barely sleep last night.

I couldn’t stop thinking of you.

And rather than let it consume me,

I decided to write

to give my feelings a place to land.

So here’s to Day 1.

Today I’m replaying a memory,

because it’s sweet:

our first phone conversation.

Awkward, yes.

Sweet. Unfiltered.

I loved every second.

It was bold of me to make that call.

I wasn’t sure what to expect.

But you met me halfway.

And slowly, quietly,

You are becoming the sweetest person.

The silence feels light today.

Maybe because it’s the first day.

I’m still high off our moments:

the glances I stole,

the playful vanishing acts,

The way absence drew attention

I wanted you to miss me

and I think it worked,

because you asked,

“Where are you hiding?”

I miss you,

but replaying those moments

It's enough to carry me for now.

These are small pieces I’ll gather each day,

until silence gives way to presence again.

Not sure how it all started, here is the story of how it all began.

These are the small fragments I’ll gather each day, until silence gives way to presence again

Just to see You

This morning was chaos in the most ridiculous, beautiful way.

This is for you - Part 2

She’s weak in the knees She pauses

Tired, stretched, challenged… but still here

The quote is in Yoruba-English.   Ayo: When people talk about resilience, they imagine it as this superhuman ability to never get tired, to keep going without breaking a sweat.
